Rudrabhishekam is the ultimate pooja which is performed to Lord Shiva. The main part of this pooja is the Rudram which will be chanted throughout. This pooja gives one the ultimate blessing of Lord Shiva. Rudrabhishekam pooja to alleviate one’s sins and to bring prosperity in one’s family. Rudrabhishekam is dedicated to lord Shiva and he is worshipped in the form of rudra or fire. The history behind the pooja is that, Lord Rama performed the pooja at Rameshwaram before he crosses the sea to reach Lanka to relieve Sita from Ravanan.

Significance of Rudrabhishekam Pooja

In this pooja, Shiva Lingam is bathed with panchamritam and water. All the eleven forms of Rudra are worshiped by using 11 types of abhishekam, Rudra Vilva Archana, Shiva Astotra and 11 types of Namaskarams are performed.
After the Pooja is completed the Kalasha water which was kept for the pooja are used to perform abhishekam for both the swamy and the Devotee.
When to Perform Rudrabhishekam Pooja?
The date can be fixed as per one’s janma nakshatra, the yoga, and thithi of that date. Mondays and Pradosha Days are very auspicious to perform Rudrabhishekam.

08 Shiva Pooja: Pooja is performed with flowers and coconut for Shiva Linga with recitals of 108 Namavalis of him.
1008 Shiva Pooja: same as shiva pooja, but archana is performed with 1008 shiva namavalis.
108 Bilva Patra Pooja: the Bilva patra leaves are the favourite for lord Shiva and the pooja is same as shiva pooja but is performed with 108 Bilva leaves.
1008 Bilva Patra Pooja: the pooja is same as shiva pooja but is performed with 1008 Bilva patras, performed in the name of the client and on his sankalpa.
Maha Shivaratri pooja: Lord Shiva consumed the poisonous fumes on this day to save the world. He is at the happiest on the night of pradosham and grants all success and victory to the people who pray him at this time. The pooja is specifically done on the client’s name and sankalpa.
Rudrabhishekam: in this pooja, the lord is worshiped in his Rudra form and is thought to remove all evils and gain prosperity according to the Vedic scriptures. 108 names of shiva and the shivopasana mantra are recited in this pooja to purify the atmosphere
Rudrabhishekam pooja: the pooja is performed with the prescribed ingredients such as honey, curd ghee and milk with chants on the Sri Rudram. The puja wipes out all sins and purifies the atmosphere. It also removes all sorts of planetary doshams.
Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam pooja: this is a very elaborate pooja to worship all 11 rudras with abhishekam. This is performed by 11 pundits with recitals of Rudram for 11 times. Abhishekam is performed for all the 11 rudras with the prescribed materials according to the Shiv Puraana in the specific name of the client and his sankalpa.
Rudraikadasini Homam: this is one major homam for Lord Shiva and worships all 11 rudras of him. The pooja followed by the Homa is performed with 11 pundits with recitals of each Rudram eleven times. Abhishekam is performed for all 11 rudras with repeated Jepa recitals. The puja ends with Shanti Paath and Poornahuti.
